The individual Habitat and Species Action Plans (HAPs and SAP) are currently being uploaded onto this website - go to the tabs on the left to find out more and to download the individual Plans.  As the Wiltshire BAP is an ongoing working document, the HAPs and SAP are updated and reviewed at regular meetings of the Working Groups, so will be slightly different from, and more up to date than the Wiltshire BAP published in 2008.

The Wiltshire BAP 2008 contains 10 Habitat Action Plans, 1 Species Action Plan, and 1 Habitat Information Note:

  • Woodland
  • Wood-pasture, Parkland and Ancient Trees
  • Ancient and/or Species-rich Hedgerows *NEW TITLE*
  • Traditional Orchards *NEW HAP*
  • Farmland Habitats *New TITLE*
  • Calcareous Grassland
  • Neutral Grassland
  • Rivers, Streams and Associated Habitats
  • Standing Open Water
  • Built Environment *NEW TITLE*
  • Bats Species Action Plan
  • Habitat Information Note for Heathland *NEW*

The way in which species are dealt with by the Wiltshire BAP has also been revised, and a new species section included within the Plan.

Why have a Wiltshire BAP?

1. To prioritise action required to conserve Wiltshire's biodiversity
2. To provide baseline information on our current knowledge
3. To coordinate and focus action for biodiversity by creating a cohesive local
     partnership
4. To raise awareness among all sectors in Wiltshire - conservation, public,
     private, communities
5. To provide a framework for monitoring
6. To identify current issues and set out targets to work towards
