Food and Shopping

Locally produced food

If you buy locally and in season you will cut the distance your food travels from the producer to your plate, which means that less carbon dioxide has been released into the atmosphere to provide you with your food.

Organic food

Organic food has been grown without the use of energy intensive pesticides and chemicals.

Organic, local food is available from local Farmers Markets – visit the Wiltshire Farmers Market Association website for days and locations near you.

Using a local vegetable and fruit box scheme is another handy way to get fresh locally produced food. Why not try:

Purton House Organics
- Tallywacker Farm
- Ogg Valley Organics

For ordering local eco-products try Pulse Wholefood Shop.

Eco-friendy clothing

Synthetic materials such as nylon and polyester are made from petrochemicals, which are non-biodegradable, unsustainable and harmful to the environment. Try an internet search for organic cotton, linen or recycled polyester for example.
